I watched Louis Theroux's documentary on the Manosphere on Sunday evening with my 72-year-old mother. By Monday morning, I was back at my ‘desk’, building tools to make the creator economy more ethical. The dissonance didn't escape me.
There are a few things I couldn't shake; the Manosphere didn't just appear from nowhere. It was built, crafted. Built with content strategy, community mechanics, monetisation funnels, and audience loyalty loops. It understands the industry of influence, and in that understanding, it has in many ways run circles around the rest of us.
